Celebrating the Amazing Men in My Life

On November 19, International Men’s Day reminds us to honour the positive impact men have on the world, their families, and their communities. This year’s theme, Positive Male Role Models, resonates deeply with me as I reflect on the incredible men who have shaped my life and career.
First and foremost is my husband, Charlie. His unwavering love, support, and belief in me have been my anchor. He inspires me every day to reach for the skies, both literally and figuratively.
My journey as an aviator would not have been possible without the guidance of my exceptional flight instructors over the last few years, Ray, Jay, Mikey, Jeff,
Rick, Warman and Gaz. Each one has played a pivotal role in my growth, instilling not just skills but the confidence to take on challenges in an industry where women often struggle to find their place.
From the very beginning, my dad and stepdad have been my greatest champions. My dad taught me to believe that I could do anything I set my mind to, while my stepdad, with his quiet strength, showed me the power of resilience and kindness. Together, they built the foundation that allowed me to dream big and take flight.
On this International Men’s Day, I celebrate these amazing men and the countless others who inspire us with their kindness, courage, and unwavering support. May we all strive to be the role models the next generation can look up to.
Tam, thank you for sharing your story, so beautifully written & such a pleasure to read. Your aviation journey, achievements & resilience are truely remarkable.
Thank you also for your “behind the scenes” kindness you & Charlie have shown to our fellow aviators. In particular, one “doing it tough.” Struggling with life’s challenges. Your patience, support of our aviator “friend” I hope will bring “returned health & healing.”
We can never give up hope.
